Kurt completed his degree in Political Science from Carleton University in 2006 after also completing 8 months in Mexico where he specialized in civil society studies and Spanish. As a social entrepreneur and youth motivational speaker, Kurt has spent more than the last decade committed to developing young leaders for sustainability in over 15 countries. In addition to being a founding director of my world, choice!, Kurt also co-founded the Pakistan Sustainability Network as a means to mobilize the youth of Pakistan to engage in issues of sustainability in their country. Kurt also runs an online communication and sustainability consultancy that he uses to help build capacity for non-profits and small businesses. In summer 2011, Kurt was named one of AIESEC Internationals top 40 under 40.
Lianne has a passion for environmental awareness on a global level. She is currently a professor at the University of Guelph in Canada and also teaches at Jain University in India. She has gained international experience working with multinational corporations in both the food and energy industries. While at Nestle, Lianne developed a research report on the Indian bottled water market. This experience heightened her interest in sustainable practices of consumers and organizations. Her work at EDF Energy, England included developing a strategy that significantly lessened the company’s carbon footprint and provided standards that ensured long-term change. Lianne's willingness to improve transformational learning in the classroom, led to her recognition for Excellence in Teaching by the Student Senate Caucus at the University of Guelph.
Derek is a web developer and consultant with a social, environmental and political voice. Designing and developing the my world, my choice! website was a natural fit but soon he went on to help co-found the organization, run the Calgary team and contribute to program development. A strong opponent of apathy, Derek blogs about social issues in Calgary and encourages every one to voice their opinions and act on the issues they care about.
Richard is passionate for social impact. As an entrepreneur, he collaborated with Ashoka Innovators for the Public, Innovest Group, Microsoft and Green Cross. He is also the founder of the AIESEC Alumni Sustainability Network, an association counting hundreds of sustainability professionals and currently runs a renewable energy company based out in Ghana. Richard was recognized as a World Economic Forum Global Changemaker fellow and a Pearson fellow for Social Innovation. He holds a Bachelor in Geography from the National University of Cote d’Ivoire.
